After reading all of the John Wells novels and waiting each day for the release of this new book, I read the Power Couple during the winter storm that hit Houston and was sorely disappointed. I was torn through the first half of the book, having come to appreciate authors that really develop new characters but also enjoying suspense thrillers for their nonstop action. However, after reading half of the book I was ready to finish it and move on. There were bursts of suspense at moments but overall, they did not make up for the slow character development that took up a majority of the book and the unnecessary and frankly disturbing sexual scenes in the book. The book had tremendous potential as referenced in the Amazon summary along with Berenson as a proven storyteller but I would never recommend this read to a friend or family member.
